Guest room interior

The guest room is a separate room, which is reserved specifically for guests who stay for a while. The main purpose of its arrangement is the desire of the owners to create the necessary conditions for comfortable living of loved ones who decide to stay. Do not confuse the guest with the living room. The second room is a room where everyone gathers for gatherings and joint leisure activities. In the guest there is a bed for the night, a wardrobe and storage space, that is, in fact, it is a separate area for one or two people, which serves as an alternative to a hotel or hotel room. Distant relatives or relatives who live in another city, old friends who are scattered about life often come to each of us. They always want to give a reception at a "high level", making it so that guests really feel like at home. The design of the guest room is characterized by versatility, since different people with their own tastes and preferences will live in it. Therefore, neutral styles are usually chosen for its design, but we'll talk about this later.

Conditions for creating a room

Of course a separate room, which most of the time will be empty, can not afford all. In apartments, the area is already clearly divided into certain zones and finding a place for guests is very problematic. The established layout with a bedroom, living room, kitchen and a nursery does not imply such chic as "extra room". Alternatively, a separate platform in the largest room (usually a hall) is suitable, which will be separated from its main part by partitions, arches, furniture or decorative walls.

In the conditions of private houses to allocate space for guests is much easier. There are usually more rooms there, and at least one room, albeit a tiny one, can be equipped for living. In luxurious cottages and mansions, owners can afford to arrange an entire “studio apartment” with a separate bathroom and toilet, so that there is no line in the morning for a shared bathroom.

Guest rooms usually have a very unattractive location: a lack of light, a deficit of square meters, and not the most original economy interior. The reason for this is their rare use. To create a truly original, but cozy design and at the same time beat all the flaws of the room, disguising them and partially turning them into advantages, the designer will have to work hard.

Requirements for the arrangement of the guest room

When creating the interior of the guest room, it is necessary to take into account a number of nuances that will help find the right vector:

  1. The guest room most often has small dimensions, but the optimal size is an area of at least 10 square meters. If the premises do not reach this number by the meter, then the person will not be comfortable in it.
  2. Be sure to provide generous artificial lighting with a shortage of natural.
  3. The minimum furniture set includes a bed, wardrobe, bedside table (dressing table) or a dresser with a mirror. In rooms more freely, this kit can be supplemented with shelves with books, an armchair and even a fireplace for a special comfort. In small rooms it is probably worth thinking about multi-functional furniture to save space.
  4. We must not forget about the entertainment, so each guest must put a TV.
  5. It is desirable to have a separate bathroom.

About lighting

As for lighting, guests are given the opportunity to independently adjust both of its types: artificial and natural. In the first case, in addition to the central ceiling chandelier, the room is equipped with local devices (wall lamps, floor lamps, lamps) and decorative light bulbs around the perimeter. So that a person can customize the lighting for themselves, it is desirable to equip the system with a control panel that will allow you to adjust the intensity. Guests can come not only from the neighboring village or suburb, but also from another country, where there is a completely different time zone.

During the acclimatization period, a person will at first remain in the habit of sleeping at an unconventional time for others. Therefore, the curtains must be hung tight so that the fabric reliably protects the sleeper from sunlight. As an option, you can leave a special night-mask-glasses on the bedside table. Tulle choose translucent, as perhaps the guest (city resident) likes to fall asleep under the lulling light of street lamps.

Style and color

From the stylistic diversity try to choose neutral, cozy options:

  • Provence. It is characterized by a light, "home" interior, which will be comfortable for people of different ages. The interior uses a lot of white, aged furniture, decorative vases with fresh flowers.
  • Classic style. This area is considered to be a number of traditional. In the classics there is a luxury, and elegance, and a special beauty. Walls are covered with wallpaper with floral ornaments, surfaces are decorated with stucco and bas-reliefs, furniture fronts are decorated with carvings and ornate, elegant details.
  • Modern. The style is characterized by rationality and simplicity. It uses chrome surfaces, metal, wood, heavy-duty plastic and glass. White, gray, and contrasting black, blue, and violet in details and accent elements prevail in the color range.
  • Scandinavian. Style attributed to neutral areas. It is for the guest room that it is good in that it will help smooth the lack of space in the form of a deficiency of natural light. The interior uses an abundance of white, cool colors, a minimum of furniture and a small amount of natural decor: soft carpet on the floor, animal skins and deer horns, a series of author's photos on the walls.
  • Neoclassical. The direction is based on the rules of the traditional classical style, but at the same time it is adapted to the modern man.

As a universal design also use the combined version. For him, they take the best from different directions, carefully work out the principle of combination and embody it in a “free” interior. As for the color solution, then again it is better to stick to a neutral scale. White prevails in it, and for the role of the second participant the trio choose any pastel shade. The third, accent tone can be a contrasting, bright color: purple, lilac, turquoise, blue, yellow. In small rooms, space is enhanced by light shades, and in large rooms it can be balanced with large prints and a dark palette.

When choosing a range do not forget that the guest room is designed to rest. Therefore, you can not zealous with the dark, dark tones that will create the same situation. The room should adjust to sleep and relaxation. According to the psychology of color, warm shades are suitable for these purposes.

Decor and selection of textiles

You can not decorate the room with an abundance of decor. Remember the guest is neutral. It will be enough to have a couple of pillows on the bed with original pillowcases, a series of paintings or copyrighted photos on the walls, a few trinkets and houseplants. When choosing the latter, try to give preference to the hypoallergenic, without flowers, as some guests may be allergic. Also, do not hang your family photos on the walls.

Guest should not be associated with the owners of the house, because otherwise the tenant at the subconscious level will have an unpleasant feeling of invading someone else’s private life. This will have a negative effect on comfort. As the plot of the pictures and photos choose neutral options: sea and forest landscapes, reproductions of paintings by famous masters, abstract compositions. The decor should only emphasize the design style. In textiles it is better to choose natural fabrics (remember about allergies) with a simple texture, without excessive luxury, because this is a guest, and not a museum.

Choice of furniture

Be sure to have a bed, chair or pouf, dressing table and closet. If the area of the room allows, it is better to add a leisure corner where a bookcase, a miniature coffee table and an armchair or a couch are placed. Under the TV stand out a separate cabinet or niche. Alternatively, it can be hung on the wall opposite the bed.

If the room is quite small, then use the built-in wardrobe. He perfectly saves space, and in “unacceptable” periods, they also put their own things here, which are temporarily hidden from nowhere. In very tiny rooms they use multifunctional furniture. During the day, the bed can turn into a sofa or even “hide” in the closet. The table, if necessary, is advanced, and the chairs are folded up like garden chairs and put into niches specially set aside for this purpose.

Single bed option

The bed will be the conditional center of the guest room. It personifies the main purpose of this room. Guests can sleep here or simply “lie down” after a long journey. You should not choose the "experimental" options in the form of round or "water" beds. Someone such innovation may not come to taste. The best material for the bed is wood. This beautiful material is welcomed in any style and will give guests a sense of reliability. You can add an array of wood forged elements.

Option with two or more beds

Much more complicated is the case with rooms designed for a couple of guests and more. Well, if a married couple arrives, and what to do when you need to settle in the same room a guy and a girl who previously did not even know each other? Of course compact, but completely inappropriate in this case, the option with bunk beds is not even considered. Linear placement along one wall is considered optimal. At the same time beds can be detached if necessary.

In order not to complicate the interior with massive zonal dividers, it is recommended to use mobile partitions, curtains or screens. If necessary, each bed is fenced off. In the daytime, the room is freed from partitions, and its interior again becomes a single composition. Of course, there is no question of any sound insulation. We have to either be content with what we have, or arrange several separate guest rooms that not everyone can afford.

A few words about the guest house

Guest house or guesthouse - Euro option, which has become an alternative to hotel rooms. In our country they are very rare due to the absence of such a tradition. This is a separate building, as a rule, small-sized, in which guests live completely apart from the owners. Of course, this is not a hut or a hut. The guest house is designed with all the amenities. At worst, there is a bathhouse and a comfortable toilet next to the plot, which has nothing to do with the crooked "booths".

Guest houses are usually built from logs and are remotely similar to temporary cottages. They use a typical layout: a terrace, one or two bedrooms, an anteroom and a miniature kitchenette for making coffee in the morning or for a night snack. The standard set of household appliances include a kettle, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, iron and TV. It is not recommended to make a room with furniture, since a large space is the main advantage of the houses over the rooms, so they are good.

The guest room is a vital room for welcoming hosts who want to give guests a special sign of respect for their personal space. Its main difference from the standard hotel room is in a special home comfort. When you make a room, you need to furnish it in such a way that you feel concern for someone else's comfort, but without the presence of the owner's personality in the little things.
